Communities at the center of their own change
Yoleng Initiative for Peace and Development (YIPAD) is a community-based organization based in Kamuda, Soroti District, Eastern Uganda.
We work alongside local communities to address challenges affecting their wellbeing and development, with particular attention to women, children, youth, vulnerable households and other underserved groups. Our work responds to the interconnected challenges of poverty, unemployment, conflict, gender inequality, limited access to essential services, food insecurity and climate change.
Yoleng believes that sustainable development begins with strong, peaceful and empowered communities. We place communities at the center of our work, supporting local people to identify their priorities, develop practical solutions, participate in decision-making and take ownership of initiatives that affect their lives.
Our programmes are grounded in a human rights-based, community-led and locally driven approach across four interconnected thematic areas: Peacebuilding, Governance and Social Cohesion; Livelihoods, Agriculture and Economic Empowerment; Education, Health and Community Wellbeing; and Climate Resilience and Environmental Sustainability.
